I Want To Know You

I want to know you
To recognise your voice across a noisy street
Know the whisper of the wind under your gliding feet
Feel the security as you pick me up with delicate might
Experience the warmth on my forehead when you kiss me goodnight

I want to know you
To be familiar with your perfume when you come around a corner
Sense the mirrored smile with every pamper
Learn the bliss in requited love as you lift me closer
Then the softness of your breast in a hold so tender

I want to know you
To be familiar with the rhythm of your heart
Believe there is no love greater than that
Feel the tingle when you brush the tip of my nose with a finger
Sense a change in the air, the gasp of breath, just for a heartbeat,
then your joy when I first word "mama"
